Tower FourtyFour is the second largest mixed-use tower project in the larger Beirut area. As it ambitions to become one of the few LEED certified buildings of the Lebanese capital, its outdoor space plays a central role in achieving this objective. Consistently orienting pedestrians towards their destination through a hierarchized circulation network, it provides minimally designed seating areas strategically located amongst planted beds mirroring native Mediterranean landscapes. Along main axes, narrow linear water features slowly overflow over gravel strips to create serene aquatic acoustics while using as little water as possible. Throughout the entire design, aesthetics are optimized while still allowing for underground water collection and eco-friendly water evaporation rates.
